Constellation Room, Santa Ana

I don’t write many reviews, but I definitely wanted to share my experience from the recent performance by The Black Tibetans. I’ve heard some great things about the band from friends and I always have a good time at The Observatory in Santa Ana. The first thing I noticed when the band took the stage was the tall, attractive bass player (yes, the bass player is female in case you are wondering). Her name is Tammi Tibetan (Tamara Raye Wilson), I’m guessing this has something to do with the origins of the Band’s name. The band’s Lead Singer/Song Writer/Guitarist is Dinst (Dean Micetich) with Ryan Kerkhoven-Harrison on the Drums/Backing Vocals. To be honest, I wasn’t sure what to expect performance-wise and I was pleasantly surprised! I really love the sound and stage presence of The Black Tibetans. It wasn’t until later (after looking them up on iTunes) that I discovered they had a recent single (The Nashville Session) produced by Dan Auerback of The Black Keys. It makes sense, this band has a very blues influenced, rock and roll sound – they also have punk attitude. I would definitely expect to see them as headliners in the near future, be sure to check them out if you get the chance, in the meantime you should download their music… The Nashville Session is really strong and they have a new album out – Go Like This.
